I started S.C. Construction in 1992 in California after I had been running high end remodels
projects for a construction company out of Visalia Ca. I was asked by a dentist while working on his home doing some custom built in cabinets, why I didn’t go on my own as I was doing the entire job process for the owner. he said as soon as you get your license come see me and I will have you remodel our home.
December of 1992, I passed the license exam in California in record time. typically, I guess it takes 3-4 hours for both the Law and trade parts of the test. However, I completed both parts in an hour and a half.
So, I was off and running with my new business. I did only remodels and tried to not do the New Construction thing to much, however I did do a couple new teardown remodels for select customers.
After 31 years in Construction and owning a successful race car company, we decided to move across the US to N.C. when we got here there were small project that needed to be done. most of the construction large tools were sold in Ca before the move. when we decided to rebuild the back deck, enlarge it slightly and install wolf decking with custom hand railing i tried hiring a general contractor first. Big mistake, this crew knew nothing about custom framing and or even how to get the framing level. After four weeks of torture i let them go. then hired another contractor and helpers only to learn they as well knew nothing. So, I informed my wife Joan that i am starting a S.C. Construction here in N.C. I have never in my life had to go through so many people to find a small crew of dedicated employees that can do the required work standards I learned from doing high end remodels in Beverly hills, Malibu, and Pismo Beach. We are just starting to advertise, and things are going really well. Lake Norman Customers have never had the pleasure of working with such a finish detailed Builder. We do everything from small jobs to entire rebuilds. if you ask i will make it happen. so, our new catch phrase is bringing Beverly Hills Quality to Lake Norman N.C.
